Designers and master craftsmen, Andi Kovel and Justin Parker create and define Esque Studio as a collaboration rooted in the innovative exploration of glass. The two met in Brooklyn at Urban Glass where they worked as artists for hire to elite fine artists and designers. Their shared vision and aspiration gave birth to Esque, with the concept of creating modern, functional, concept-based glassware aimed at the design industry and away from the pedestal. For the past 20+ years the duo have led a movement in glass by shattering the rules and redefining notions of craft and material associated with their medium.

Vetri is thrilled to announce our representation of Portland-based Esque Studio. Andi Kovel and Justin Parker, Esque Studio co-founders and designers, began Esque as an homage to the heritage and tradition of glassblowing. Drawing inspiration from the awe-inspiring properties of glass, they reimagine the functionality and form with their signature punk-lux style. You may recognize Andi from Season 2 of the Netflix show Blown Away!

Meeting at UrbanGlass in the late 90s, Andi and Justin's shared vision and aspiration gave birth to Esque. For more than 20 years, the duo have led a movement in glass by shattering the rules and redefining traditional notions of craft.

Style By Emily Henderson Blog Shout Out For Team Andi!!! by Esque Studio

STYLE BY EMILY HENDERSON BLOG SPOT

From Caitlin: OH MY GOSH, Blown Away is back for season 2!!! I got hooked on this one after someone from the team recommended it to me last year, claiming that it had the perfect mix of innuendo and skill. This season is EVEN BETTER – imagine the camaraderie and feel good-ness of The Great British Baking Show combined with like, the heart-pounding drama of a harness-less tightrope walk. Pieces shatter ALL THE TIME (seemingly right before the completion of challenges, so there’s real tension), the contestants are all so lovely (even the arrogant ones are likable, somehow) and the finished products are UNREAL. My favorite contestant was Andi – y’all GOTTA check out her shop here (I’m deceased over the platter set). Does anyone else wanna talk about the show????

… five hours, and I want a binge

‘Blown Away’

When to watch: Now, on Netflix.

Season 2 of this glassblowing reality contest show is just as kindhearted as Season 1 and just as easy to down in one big gulp: There are only 10 episodes, and they’re each a half-hour. Contestants make cool glass objects, the judges offer restrained and supportive critiques, and we all learn about techniques and artistry. Fun! Learn from me and do not start this at midnight, unless you, too, love Googling “glass classes near me after Covid” at 4:30 in the morning.
