Andi Kovel Appearing with Strobel Gallery @ Palm Springs Modernism Show

Sometimes the best part of working in design is watching ideas make their way out into the world. This week, we’re excited to share a bit of news from one of our longtime collaborators, curator and gallerist Sheila Strobel, who’s launching Strobel Gallery in Palm Springs during Modernism Week 2026. The official press release has all the details—think architecture, light, and a group of artists (including some familiar Esque Studio faces) bringing fresh work to the desert.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Palm Springs, CA — Strobel Gallery announces its launch in Palm Springs with Introductions, presented during Palm Springs Modernism Week Show and Sale, February 13–16, 2026, at the Palm Springs Convention Center. Founded by curator and gallerist Sheila Strobel, the gallery debuts with a focused presentation that brings contemporary art into conversation with architecture, light, and the way objects are encountered in daily life.

Strobel Gallery will be located at Booth 801A, with an opening night party on Friday, February 13. Introductions marks the gallery's first public presentation in Palm Springs, introducing both the gallery's curatorial perspective and a group of artists whose practices span glass, painting, printmaking, and sculpture.

Launching during Palm Springs Modernism Week Show and Sale, Strobel Gallery presents Studio Glass as part of the contemporary art landscape, in dialogue with painting, printmaking, and sculpture. The works in Introductions are shaped by light, scale, and architectural setting, and are conceived to live within the spaces they occupy.

Artists featured in Introductions include Manolo Aguilera, Harry Allen, Jason Christian, Andi Kovel, Rachel Maxi, Anna Skibska, and Theresa Wingert. These introductions mark the inaugural exhibition of Strobel Gallery, presenting works in glass, painting, printmaking, and mixed media sculpture that articulate the gallery's curatorial focus on light, scale, and architectural presence.

"The Coachella Valley brings an established visual culture informed by architecture, light, and modernist design," says Strobel. "There is an awareness here of how light moves through a room, how scale shapes experience, and how art becomes part of daily life. Introductions is an opening conversation grounded in those values."

The Modernism Week presentation marks the first chapter of Strobel Gallery's Palm Springs presence. The gallery will continue to operate through pop-up exhibitions, fairs, and focused projects while finalizing a permanent storefront location in Palm Springs.
