The Hot Pop Vase embodies rule-breaking craftsmanship by transforming "waste" into art. This vase begins with rescued glass elements warmed in the garage—often the discarded tops from old drinking glasses. Using the hot popping technique, a cold piece is scored on a turntable, then torched to induce a controlled thermal fracture. Instead of tossing these rings, each is carefully polished and, while molten, rolled onto the surface of a newly formed vessel. They fuse as textured, additive accents—redefining what is decorative and functional in glasswork.
This approach flips traditional methods, using scrap as the star and integrating serendipity, reuse, and technical mastery. Every Hot Pop Vase acts as both a conversation piece and sculptural collectible, demonstrating that beauty in glass can be found (and made) anywhere.
- Approximate Dimensions: 8" x 8" x 12"
- Please note: Each Hot Pop Vase is individually constructed from reused and newly blown elements, and finished entirely by hand. Subtle distinctions in ring placement, fracture pattern, and surface texture highlight the authenticity of each piece. While your vase will resemble those pictured, expect nuanced and unique variations—each is solely yours, with its own natural character and beauty.
