A spectacle of form and process, the Space Mountain Fishbowl reimagines a classic vessel as a landscape in glass. It begins with a clear bubble, the base overlaid with rich color. Once shaped into a cylinder and the bottom flattened, the glassblower heats and expertly manipulates the base using jacks—a tool traditionally for creating lines—to poke, push, and sculpt the color upward, forming a dramatic mountain peak inside a flawless, clear vessel.
Each piece is finished by cutting and polishing the lip into a wide cylinder, yielding a vibrant “virtual landscape” that’s a natural habitat for fish, frogs, or flowers. The interplay of color and clarity invites endless creative uses and makes every fishbowl a singular centerpiece.
